Innovative Support Opportunity - Suicide Loss Survivor Support Group

The Division of Mental Health and Addiction and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) – Indiana Chapter are offering two training opportunities to become a group facilitator for suicide loss survivor support.

The AFSP Facilitator Training Program offers suicide prevention organizers a way to create and facilitate a community support group for suicide loss survivors in the aftermath of a suicide. Courses are offered as two-day trainings, of up to 40 attendees, and include lecture, interactive discussion, and role-playing. They are led by experts in the field of suicide bereavement.

Ideal attendees:

- Mental Health professionals and survivors of suicide loss (at least two years after loss and one year of support group participation)

- Current group facilitators (of any topic) who want to expand and strengthen their facilitation skills

Attendees must attend both training days to complete the training. By attending this training, you agree to begin facilitating a suicide loss support group that will meet consistently for at least one year. Your suicide loss support group must begin meeting consistently within three months of attending the training. Both trainings will be offered in-person in Indianapolis.
