On Tuesday, April 8, from approximately 2 to 4:30 p.m., Hamilton County will experience a total solar eclipse, with totality beginning at 3:06 p.m. and lasting three minutes and thirty seconds in Fishers. Central Indiana anticipates 500,000+ visitors to view the eclipse. With anticipated additional traffic, motorists should travel with emergency preparedness in mind. Locations that have experienced a total solar eclipse previously experienced heavy, often standstill, traffic.

The sky will begin to change around 1:50 p.m. with totality at 3:06 p.m. Totality will last for approximately 3 minutes and 30 seconds in Fishers. The next total solar eclipse that can be seen from the contiguous United States will occur in August 2044. It has been 819 years since Hamilton County has experienced a total solar eclipse.
