National Disability Awareness Month

The City of Carmel is observing National Disability Awareness Month in March and will be part of several special events.

To kick off the month, the city is hosting Community Sensory Day. Event details include:

Midtown Plaza

Saturday, March 2

10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

  • Free snack items courtesy of BraunAbility

  • Giveaways and sensory activities

  • Carmel Advisory Committee on Disability video screening at 10:45 a.m.

  • Movie screening at 11 a.m. with closed captions

  • Virtual Art Exhibition launches on the Midtown Screen at 1 p.m.

In addition, OneZone is hosting a special event March 13 from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at FORUM Events Center. The luncheon will have a panel of different business owners who have prioritized hiring individuals with disabilities and giving tips to other businesses in attendance on how they can implement similar practices. At the end, individuals with disabilities will be at tables in the lobby for a reverse job fair, so that employers can talk to people who are actively seeking employment.
